    Navel-Gazing

He was always doing that these days. Everything he saw became a symbol of his own existence, from a rabbit caught in headlights to raindrops racing down a window-pane. Perhaps it was a sign that he was going to become a poet or a philosopher: the kind of person who, when he stood on the sea-shore, didn’t see waves breaking on a beach, but saw the surge of human will or the rhythms of copulation, who didn’t hear the sound of the tide but heard the eroding roar of time and the last moaning sigh of humanity fizzing into nothingness. But perhaps it was a sign, he also thought, that…

    The Fry Chronicles

The Fry Chronicles by Stephen Fry Published: 2010 Narrated by: Stephen Fry I read Stephen Fry’s first memoir, Moab is My Washpot, earlier this year, which covers his life up to Cambridge. The Fry Chronicles is in my TBR Pile Challenge list, so it’s been on the shelf for quite a while now. I feel a bit guilty about this, but after listening to his first memoir as an audiobook, I couldn’t pass up doing the same with his second. Moab is My Washpot

Moab is My Washpot (audio) by Stephen Fry Published: 1997 Narrated by: Stephen Fry I’ve read a few articles here and there of Stephen Fry’s, but this is the first of his actual books, fiction or non-fiction, that I’ve read. Even so, I knew I was going to love it going in, as I’m already a huge fan of his. I’ve spent countless hours watching his comedy, documentaries, and interviews, and I can easily spend an evening listening to him give his opinions on any topic. He uses language in a way that can elevate fart jokes to fine art. This is his autobiography, covering the first twenty years of…

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (audio) by J.K. Rowling Published: 2003 Narration: Stephen Fry **This will contain some spoilers, but I figure everyone who’s at all interested in Harry Potter has read the books or seen the movies by now. I’m fairly new to audio books, so I’ve only recently discovered that I quite enjoy being read to like a child. Who better for that than Mr. Stephen Fry? I read the first three of these and lost interest, but that interest was renewed when I found that Fry narrated the UK versions. He’s likely in my top five list of best people ever, so I decided…
