I thought I’d have a go at writing some monthly wrap-ups here. I enjoy them on other weblogs I read, and it gives me a chance to post some lists, and I do love lists, even if they are quite small. I feel like I’m just starting to come out of this half year reading drought, but that’s a pretty sad number of books read. One audiobook and one dead tree book. Maybe listing it like this each month will shame me into reading more.

Two of the books bought this month were through a cinema deal, where you could get free movies for buying books that were adapted to film, so I choose to buy two comics that were made into superhero movies this year – Captain America (which I watched already and really enjoyed) and the next X-Men movie. The Captain America comic I’d actually heard of for years now, as it was quite popular when released. The X-Men comic we’ll have to see. Some of those older Chris Claremont comics are hard to read for me. Comic writing is great now, and it’s hard to go back to that old exposition-filled style of the classics.

This has been a busy month here. My girlfriend and I moved into a new apartment on April 1st. We love it, but it was unfortunately a bit of a mess when we moved in, so there’s been a lot more cleaning than we had anticipated. And we went to Hawaii for a week immediately after the move. Poor timing, but you can’t really complain about being in Hawaii. Snorkling, Mai Tais, surfing, and seafood, what more could you want? So even though we’ve been here a month already, it all still feels new and unfinished. It’s slowly coming together though, and I anticipate some quality summer reading time coming up.

This weblog has become a bit stagnant this last year, and I hope to remedy that somewhat this summer. Not sure how exactly, but it should probably begin with me reading a bit more.

Sounds like a pretty good month! I really need to start reading a few comics and graphic novels again. I remember loving them, but I never think about them these days when I go to find a book. Good luck finishing up the apartment cleaning/revamping!

Thanks, the apartment is coming along nicely. We are currently waiting for a couple pieces of furniture to be delivered that will make a lot of difference, I think.

I have the same issue with comics, never think to pick one up, even though I have a small unread pile here. I’m hoping to slip more in to my reading this year.
