Lived to tell the tale

I’ve been out of commission for just over a week now. I had some kind of stomach bug, possibly food poisoning. It was annoying, as I was actually on a bit of a health kick the week before it happened. I had started running, picked up some weights for home, and was generally feeling quite energetic.

I’ll let Billy explain the symptoms:

I thought I was dying last weekend, so on Sunday I went to a walk-in clinic. There was a two-hour wait, and at that point I hadn’t eaten anything in 24 hours, so I must have looked like one of the walking dead while I wandered the mall before the appointment.

When I finally got in, and finished explaining the situation to the doctor, his first question was whether I was depressed. Yes, I’m bloody well depressed! It’s hard to feel chipper when you’ve been pooing for 36 hours. His professional diagnosis was ‘it might be food poisoning’. A long time to wait for such a non-answer, but I was somewhat calmed that he didn’t seem to think I was dying, no matter how many times I told him I probably was.

It took me longer to bounce back than it really should have, but I seem to be doing fine now. Life’s picking up again. Had drinks downtown last night and went for two runs this weekend without feeling nasty, so I’m hoping I’m actually over it.
