Jason from The Clarity of Night is hosting another writing contest. I’ve participated in a couple of his contests this past year, and it’s always been a fun experience. The readers offer a lot of encouraging feedback, and there’s always the chance of winning glorious prizes.
The contest is to write a piece of flash fiction, a maximum of 250 words, inspired by this photo. My entries are usually over-the-top melodrama, but there are no genre boundaries; write any story the photo evokes for you.
My last two entries were for his Halo and Whispers contests. Neither of these pieces placed, but the first did win an honourable mention, which was quite nice. Each contest typically garners around 80 entries, so there’s a lot of great fiction to read as well as a lot of fellow contestants to offer feedback on your entry.
It’s worth a go, if you enjoy writing fiction.
He was a field goal kicker in the NFL. He was on the escalator. He was wearing Crocs. He lost a toe and a lot of blood when his kicking foot got caught at the top of the escalator. He’s not a filed goal kicker anymore.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Have a happy new year, Rob!
Sweet. Thanks for the info. See you tomorrow!
Happy new year, Kyklops! If only everyone who wore Crocs met such a timely demise.
No problem, Manda. I was thinking I’ll probably skip heading to the mainland for New Years and head over another weekend, when things aren’t quite as busy. No use fighting the crowds for just New Years. But I’ll definitely talk to you guys in a bit and figure it out.
